My Style
Looking through several successful portfolios online, you begin to notice a unique style each designer seems to fall into, be it illustrative, bold, colourful etc. I definitely have my own style and that is Minimalism. The beauty of design for me at least is that 'less is more'; to be able to create an aesthetic piece of art with as few elements as possible is an art in itself.

Creative Process
For me, the creative process is more about a roller-coaster of my moods rather than a specific design method. In my experience, every creative process has 5 emotional stages. From the start of a project all the way through execution, you’ll probably hit all 5 stages along the way: Possibility, Doubt, Agony (brutally-frustrating stage!), Epiphany then finally Finesse.

Text Selection Colour
A neat little trick I discovered recently was to change the colour of the boring default blue colour for text selection. It is a great way to match your website's theme colours for a more consistent look. On this website, for example, I've used the 2 most prominent colours as the text selection colours; blue for the background colour and pink for the text colour. This is a new feature in CSS3 and is achieved by using the ::selection CSS property. This is supported in IE9+, Opera, Google Chrome and Safari. Firefox supports an alternative, the ::-moz-selection.

Negative Space
Negative Space is something else that excites me and is used in very famous brands, including FedEx. I utilised this technique in a recent logo for Worcester Canoe Club. Using the shape of a canoe, I placed 3 of them in a specific way where it could look like two things - either a W (for Worcester) or a birds-eye view image of 3 canoes in a race! I got the inspiration from actually going to the canoe club, standing on a bridge the canoes pass below.
